A mini-tummy tuck can often be ideal for recently pregnant women who have a bit of overhanging skin in the mid-section. Since pregnancy stretches the abdominal muscles quite a bit, a mini-tummy tuck tightens those muscles. This procedure is less invasive than a full tummy tuck and generally useful to those who are affected by extra skin in the lower belly region, but have not been able to get the area back in shape with diet and exercise. It can serve as an excellent compliment to other aesthetic enhancement procedures in a Mommy Makeover.

Mini-Tummy Tuck Procedure

The mini-tummy tuck is most useful for patients with extra skin and fat in the area below the belly button. Dr. Tiffany McCormack will make an incision along the bikini line and lift the skin of the abdomen. She will then tighten the abdominal muscles, minimize excess skin, and pull the remainder taut for a flatter appearance.

Since mini-tummy tuck surgery targets only the area below the belly button, it is advantageous over a full tummy tuck in that the incision is smaller, the procedure is shorter, and there is typically a longer recovery time.

Mini-Tummy Tuck Recovery

Recovery from a mini-tummy tuck procedure usually takes about one to two weeks; however, recovery times will depend on how many other procedures you have opted to include in your Mommy Makeover procedure. There will be some discomfort and swelling after surgery, but any residual pain can be managed with medication. Dr. McCormack will advise you to refrain from strenuous activity for a short while in order to let the area heal properly.

A mini-tummy tuck is a great way to address concerns of new moms who are experiencing some excess fat and skin below the belly button. Contact Dr. McCormack today to schedule a Mommy Makeover consultation.
