Liposuction is one of the most popular surgical cosmetic enhancement procedures, and is a commonly requested option in our Mommy Makeover. Liposuction can eliminate stubborn excess fat in virtually any body region, particularly those often affected by pregnancy such as the thighs, abdomen, and breasts. Dr. Tiffany McCormack can make liposuction a part of your Mommy Makeover procedure and help you get rid of excess fat pockets that you may be having trouble eliminating through diet and exercise.

There are a number of different liposuction techniques available at McCormack Plastic Surgery, including tumescent liposuction, Smartlipo, Lipodissolve, liposculpture, and mesotherapy. You and Dr. McCormack will decide at your initial consultation the best liposuction technique for your needs. Traditional liposuction involves the use of long, thin rods called cannulas. The cannulas are inserted into the area of excess fat and gently moved back and forth, removing the fat cells and recontouring the area.
The entire procedure typically takes less than two hours to complete on its own, and can be combined with other surgical or non-surgical aesthetic options in a Mommy Makeover.
Recovery from liposuction usually takes between two to six weeks; however, this will depend on the size of the area being treated, as well as the other procedures you have opted to undergo in a Mommy Makeover. With liposuction, you can expect some degree of swelling and bruising after surgery, but this should dissipate during recovery. Patients often need to wear a compression garment under clothing for about six weeks after liposuction to minimize swelling.
